Since launching this website as a hobby in 2021, BBQ Villa has supported millions of barbecue and grilling enthusiasts worldwide and across the nation as well.
To learn how to smoke and barbecue meat in your own backyard, you can find a selection of tips, tricks, reviews & tools at BBQ Villa. We share everything along the way, on our journey from a novice to a pitmaster.
The background
Hi, I’m Jerry Clinkstan and I’m the founder of BBQ Villa. I knew I had to learn how to cook like that in my own backyard after experiencing real Eastern and Southern BBQ for the first time.
So, I set out to cook succulent brisket, ribs and pork butts with a trusty Weber Kettle and a bag of charcoal.
But, I realized that after the first mouthful, I obviously had no idea what I was doing and set out to learn all I could about traditional barbecue. I was left scratching my head after hundreds of Google searches.
Should I use lump charcoal or briquettes to cook? What makes a perfect smoker for beginners? Why the hell hasn’t the temperature of my brisket changed in 3 hours, and what is the Texas Crutch I’m hearing about all the time?
The more I learned, the more I read confusing and contradictory advice. While some great instruments, forums and books are available, it made me lose sleep by bringing it all together and understanding what trust advice and what to ignore. This is how I started this website to give you the best information about BBQ that you actually want to know.
Creating the best Information resource for BBQ advice
I wanted to build the exact resource that I wish I could have found when I was just beginning to find good advice from the struggle.
So what makes me think I’m eligible to write about BBQ? I’ve never won a BBQ award. It’s obvious. I’m committed to putting the latest tips, technique and feedback from across the web together.
Over the last few years, I’ve assembled a small team of like-minded barbecue enthusiasts, sharing their experiences.
Unlike many other experts out there hawking their own brand of BBQ Products, or cooking courses, blogs, and reviews, we are fully independent and impartial.
We can relate to products that we have researched and suggest from time to time. If you agree with our opinion and want to buy it through the link on our website, you can get a small commission to help us cover the costs of our website (this stuff is not cheap, so a big thank you for supporting the website).
We wish you nothing but success and hope your future will be full of delicious smoked meat!
